FAQ:
People I meet on my way often wonder and ask me about the secret behind travelling like this? They tell me, that if they had the time and money, “preferred to have both” – they would do the same.

FTA:
There aren’t any secrets behind this. I’m not a rich guy with big savings, nor do I have my parents to handle the financial part (wish they did!). I do this on a shoe-string budget. Therefore I am depending on getting support from people and companies to be able to progress and succeed my journey. I do not get financial support from any companies!

Avon TyresAvon Tyres is the supplier of high quality tyres for my long and rough adventure ride around the world. Situations where they are really being used and tested in all kinds of environments. Tyres is for me one of the most important components on a motorcycle, when it comes to safety and handling.  That little strip of rubber which is in touch with the road can be the difference between life and death. It is very important to have confidence in the tyres you ride with, not only in dry conditions, but also in wet. That is why Avon Tyres has supplied ATWJ – mhoey.eu with their best touring tyres from the Avon-program, the Avon Storm 2 Ultra. A great sport/ touring tyre with outstanding performance in both dry and rainy weather, and still capable of doing a long mileage. A dream tyre for the touring- and adventure motorcyclist.
Avon Storm 2 UltraAvon Storm 2 Ultra is an even further development of the award-winning Storm-ST, offering you more mileage and more grip.
The Storm 2 Ultra is a multi-compound Super Rich Silica (SRS) which gives the rear tyre an extra 12 % mileage. This new technology not only offers you more grip and improved traction in the wet and dry, it also enhances handling and ride comfort.
Because of Avon Tyres I can ride the world with the best tyres on todays market. The rubber really makes the difference!
UPDATE 23JUN2010: Now after trying these amazing tyres I am convinced that Avon are in the league of top quality tyres. I did 19.827 long kilometers on one rear tyre. I didn’t change it because of wear, but because of 3 punctures that started leaking too much… There was still 3 mm of grip left as I replaced it with a new Avon Storm 2 Ultra. Thanks and great done Avon…
UPDATE 22JUL2010: Read the press release about the amazing Avon Storm 2 Ultra tyres in UK bike magazine here: Around the world man and top UK bike magazine praise Storm 2 Ultra

Without you guys I had been stucked in South America - Thanks so muchImagine people you haven’t met or know can find it okay to support you, that is incredible. This has happened to me with the forum of VFRD.com. A motorcycle forum on the Internet and fellow VFR- riders from the States have decided to help out ATWJ – mhoey.eu to get up  and visit them in USA. VFRD is a member supported forum/website with no commercial advertising. Here people get in contact with fellow motorcycle riders, mutual help concerning safe ride, maintenance an d performance of their motorcycles. If you have a VFR, VFRD.com is the place to hook up with others and get into the community to share your knowledge with others, or just for a nice social time with fellow motorcycle friends.
I look forward to see as many of you as possible on my way up through the States, to show my gratitude regarding your help. I say THANKS guys! Ride safe, but have fun.

K&N

After telling my testimonials about riding a Honda VFR through Africa to K&N they have agreed on supporting ATWJ – mhoey.eu with products for the journey around the world. I can now proof that with a K&N filter you have chosen one of the best brands in filters in the world. After beingthrough several dusty areas and sandstorms in Africa. No other mark beats it. The K&N filter goes on and on, furthermore they are clean-able, which is what an  K&N Oil Filter for a VFR - model KN-303 “Overlander” needs! K&N filters are high quality produced products. They come as  either universal or specified parts to fit the make and model of your automobile or motorcycle, race or street.
I will continue riding K&N airfilters and in future I will change my oil filters to a K&N brand too.  Nothing but highly filtered air gets through a K&N. Now after more than 50.000 my K&N filter is still going strong. No wonder they call it “The Worlds Best Air Filter”. Thanks K&N for sending out oil filters, air filters and other great products of yours!

Slime - Worldwide Leader in Tyre Care! I arrived with a 14.000 km old leaking rear tyre to Santiago and no repair plugs left. In my effort of finding new plugs I failed or they were too expensive for me to buy from local bike shops. Later I contacted Slime from USA, within one week I got an amazing reply back from their distributor in Santiago, Chile saying that I should drop by for a meeting to discuss things – Slime offered me their help! The guys name was Sebastian Diaz. Slime had been in contact with him after my letter to them asking if they could help out a biker on the street? It is not often you get such a sunshine story!
Since 1989, Slime has been committed to providing our customers with high quality, innovative tire care products. As the worldwide leader in tire care, we offer a complete line that allows us to present retailers and distributors with a category solution, while giving customers the tools they need to care for their tires, save money, and stay safe.
Big thanks to Slime for their support around the world Now widely distributed in over 80 countries, the Slime brand came from humble beginnings.
The first bottles of Slime sealant were blended by hand with a power drill and drywall blade in a garage on the Central Coast of California. In such close proximity to mountain biking trails and sandy dunes perfect for off-roading, it didn’t take long for the “green slimy stuff”, as it was often referred to back then, to develop a following. The Slime name stuck—and twenty years later our sealants are still blended and bottled on the Central Coast of California.
With our Slime green sealants at the heart of our business, our commitment to being green continues to go deeper than the brand color.
Tyre repair plugs SlimeWe are dedicated to creating products that are safe for the user, the tire, and the environment—as solidified by Slime’s Green Promise.
You can imagine how proud I am being sponsored by Slime. As an overlander good tyre repair products  is a must to have with you. One can’t avoid having punctures and of course most of the time you are far from gas stations and civilization. Having good gear/ products with you as Slime repair plugs and patches brings me pease in mind!
Slime has offered me products enough to keep my wheels turning for several years in the future. Should I meet fellow bikers on the road with a puncture I promise you I will help in assisting with Slime products to keep them going. Thanks to Slime USA and their distributor in Santiago, Chile. I look forward to visit you guys in USA to tell you my thanks. I am ready for punctures with Slime in my repair kit!

Norbar Torque Tools Ltd. Luckily the list keeps growing of people and companies wanting to help ATWJ – mhoey.eu or more correctly said “A biker on the street”. But the company Norbar Torque Tools Inc. and the people behind the English company fabricating torque tools and test calibration equipment for the automotive -, aviation -, heavy – and off- shore industry around the world. I know from my time as an aircraft technician what is at stake, using the wrong tools can be catastrophical. In other words – “Life is too short for cheap Chinese torque wrenches”.
It is not often that a huge company such as Norbar finds interest in a person like me travelling around the world, but for Norbar it came naturally to support.  I immediately got a feedback from David Rollason (Marketing Executive) & Gregory J. Young (Norbar Area Manager – Latin
Norbar Torque wrench SLO 1/4America) saying that they could help me out with not just one torque wrench to help me install my cam shafts, but torque wrenches to cover the whole spectra of the torque range of my Honda  VFR. To be able to help me out quickly Gregory & David arranged that they would supply me with the tools from their distributor of Santiago, Ferreteria O’Higgins – Villar Hnos. S.A. I met up with Gregory the Getting a training course of the Norbar calibrating test tool & wrench following week to be presented to Norbar, handed over the tools and even offered a torque wrench course downtown Santiago at Ferreteria O’Higgins – Villar Hnos S.A.
Norbar is the world’s leading torque specialist with one of the most modern and largest factories devoted exclusively to the design, development and production of torque tightening and measuring equipment.
Norbar is the only torque equipment manufacturer to be able to offer torque tool and instrument calibration  &  recalibration services to the original factory standard on four continents. The NATA accredited laboratory in Adelaide, South Australia and NVLAP accredited laboratory in Willoughby, Ohio, USA use the same equipment and procedures as the factory’s UKAS accredited laboratory. The new SAC-SINGLAS laboratory in Singapore now has the same facilities for Asian customers.
In addition to this, most of Norbar’s distributors offer repair , calibration & recalibration services. Several ha
ve calibration accreditation by their local standards organisations.
José Antonio Villar R. & Gregory J. Young helping me with torque wrenches from Norbar Norbar is owned solely by the descen- dants of the founder, Bill Brodey, and they remain every bit as passionate about pro- viding custo- mers with high quality, value for money products and services.
The company was established in 1942. The “North Bar Tool Company” (as Norbar was then known) became the first company in Britain to commercially manufacture a torque wrench. The initial demand was driven by the need for the gasket-less cylinder head of the Rolls Royce
Merlin engine to be accurately tightened. Bill Brodey and his partner Ernest Thornitt obtained a license from Britain’s war-time Government to begin manufacture of torque wrenches and Norbar was born.
Trutorque 200 (TT 200)Since then, Norbar has continued to invest in the very latest design, manufacturing and quality control technology to achieve the highest level of innovation and precision in the field of torque control equipment.
Norbar Torque Tools Inc. David Rollason & Gregory J. Young, I send you all a big thanks for helping out a Dane stranded with his bike in Santiago de Chile. I look forward to say thanks personally to the ones being part of this incredible help. Golan Inc. After being on the road for a while I know how important to be independent and having gear that you can clean or do repair on instead of replacing with new parts. It is the same story with fuel filters. The original ones are great, but the cost of them are sky high and they are paper element, so therefore not cleanable! Another thing is that many of the cleanable fuel filters on the market are not living up to the standards of the paper elements, but in return they are cheap. For Golan cleanable fuel filter me it is important with parts gear that I can put my trust in. If something goes wrong I am often in areas with long distance to civilization.
Golan Inc. Fuel Filter Model 40-375B 3/8 Barbed FittingsGS Performance had the solution for me. They produce a great variety of fuel, oil filter elements and tank valves for bikes, car trucks and marine. Their billet filter elements are made of  CNC 6061 aluminium with a filtration of  10 micron. They can be used in systems containing fuel and oil and will guarantee you with a perfect filtration.
GS Performance is a leading manufacturer of billet, washable, and reusable automotive, marine and motorcycle fuel/oil filters. They also  manufacture motorcycle fuel tank valves/petcocks, as well as marine and chopper fuel tank selectors.
GS Performance  S.E.M.A. “Award Winning” filters are made out of Aluminum housing and aerospace 300 series stainless steel elements. All the “Large” and “G” filters are for extreme high flow requirements, and manufactured for high pressure systems that will handle any rough environment.

GS Performance filters are easy to maintain, they are washable and reusable, and have served the racing, aerospace and military for many years.

GS fuel valves and fuel tank selectors are new technology, the idea of using ball bearings in the valves is to create a minimum friction, smooth operation with a very positive positioning makes GS valves safer than any other valve in the market, and has awarded GS with new patents and a large customer base.
I thank Golan Inc. for being willing to help a VFR-rider on the road with a high quality fuel filter and back-up parts. Visit GS Performance on www.golanproducts.com and find the correct filter for your automotive
